plant and piping
Industrial plant & pipework is a specific area in
which significant benefits can be gained from using
a specialist CAD package.
We
use CADWorx Plant Professional which helps us to
quickly produce compact & neat pipe layouts for all
sizes of equipment whether it’s a small skid with a
couple of pumps or a large plant arrangement with
numerous pieces of equipment.
From the 3D model
we can then produce 2D arrangement drawings
generating any views required. The pictures below
show the 3D model for a section of a plant
arrangement and the 2D plan view generated from it.

Fully automatic pipe detail drawings can also be
produced using the industry standard Alias Isogen. These
automatic drawings can be fully customised to generate the
specific information the client requires e.g. parts
list content, pipe cut lengths, unique weld numbers
etc. The examples below both detail the red pipe but
are customised to present different information.

Unlike many systems, CADWorx uses standard AutoCAD
solids allowing any drawings or models we produce to
be opened, plotted or even edited in native AutoCAD
without the need for any special enablers.
We can also produce animated walkthroughs of the
completed model. Alternatively we can publish the
model as a Navisworks .nwd file which allows anybody
to view & navigate around the model without the need
for any specialist skills or CAD software. This
allows the user to choose their own route around the
model free from the constraints of a pre-programmed
animation. |
